Alhambra nonprofit counseling center focuses on coronavirus stress

Since Pelican Cove Counseling Center opened in June, the no-profit mental health clinic has provided teletherapy services to low-income individuals at a fraction of their typical cost.

The Alhambra-based health center at 240 S. Garfield Ave. coincidentally opened during the coronavirus pandemic, a time of great need for affordable mental health services. Pelican Cove’s patients have included people coping with loss, economic hardship or difficulty adapting to online learning, according to a news release.
